Spending one’s earnings to look better and shining
Yet the inner self is left distraught and in hiding
As one tends to look to be close to God and faithful
One can be running away from what is truthful

Can one not see that it is a matter of gratitude?
To live another day, another life, to be love in servitude?
As God’s will resides deep within our hearts and soul
With every breath taken being a blessing to call home

Yet the actions of others ought not matter to us
One needs to tend to one’s own life, one’s own ways and thoughts
For all one can do is to love oneself as one loves others
To look to conquer oneself and one’s smallest of machinations

For it is in the smallest of acts that one can find
the power of God
